All of the Standout Hair and Makeup Looks on the Oscars Red Carpet 

As much as we get excited about the Academy Awards every year, this time around the show is a little less fun thanks to some questionable nominations and the obvious lack of diversity. But that doesn’t mean we won’t drool at all the 2020 Oscars beauty looks. Although some of our favorite celebs and movies were left out of nominations, there are still some stellar actors up for awards, as well as presenters and performers.

While the Grammy Awards gave us bold, eclectic hair and makeup, the Oscars are all about Old Hollywood glamour. But that doesn’t mean it’s boring. Zazie Beets and Mindy Kaling have already delivered standout fashion. And thanks to musicians such as Janelle Monáe, Billie Eilish and Cynthia Erivo, the Oscars get an injection of out-of-the-box beauty it doesn’t always have.

Greta Gerwig

The “Little Women” director pulled back her ear-length bob to show off statement jewelry and a gorgeous glam. For the look, makeup artist Jenn Streicher prepped her skin with Sisley-Paris skincare. She then applied her makeup using Armani Beauty, including Lip Maestro Liquid Lipstick in 511 ($38 at Sephora).

Kristin Cavallari

Makeup artist Robert Sesnek lined the reality TV star’s eyes with Lorac Front of the Line Pro Liquid Eyeliner in Navy ($23 at Ulta). For her hair, Owen Gould used ECRU New York products, including the ECRU New York Styling Balm ($26 at ECRU New York) for shine and separation.

Beanie Feldstein

The “Booksmart” actress pulled up to the red carpet in side-swept, Old Hollywood-esque waves courtesy of Bobby Eliot using Suave hair products. Makeup artist Katey Denno gave the star a gorgeous, classic glam.

Charlize Theron

Per usual, the “Bombshell” nominee is red carpet perfection in soft, understated makeup. For her hair, stylist Adir Abergel applied Virtue Healing Oil ($42 at Sephora) from roots to ends with a small amount of Virtue Un-Frizz Cream ($40 at Sephora) to her ends. He rough-dried the hair with the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer Professional edition. (It’s out of stock but the regular Dyson dryer is still available for $399 at Sephora.) He then added extensions to the sides of her head to complete the slicked-down look.
