While some look to the runways (OK, and Instagram) to see what all the models are wearing on their bodies, I’m more interested in what they’ve got on their ears. And on their fingers, and around their necks — do you see where I’m going with this? Earrings, rings, and necklaces are the keys to my heart, and lucky for me, all the 2020 jewelry trends are full-on obsession-worthy. Designers like Christian Siriano made a case for the shift from gold to silver with chunky, punk-inspired chains, while others, like Givenchy and Jacquemus, showed off more playful looks like colorful tassels and wide white hoops, respectively. If you’re in the market to treat yourself to a few new pieces, read on for the jewelry trends worth trying out this season.

1. Dangle Earrings
At the Tadashi Shoji Fall/Winter 2020 show, models paired ornate gowns with collarbone-length dangle earrings, and while that extra-long look might not be as practical IRL, the inspo is everything. A slightly shorter pair with just as much fringe and glitz gives your 2020 jewelry some 1920s drama. The Aqua Multi Chain Drop Earrings look like a million bucks, but they’ll only cost you $34.

2. Silver Chains
Christian Siriano’s Fall/Winter 2020 collection was complimented by a Harley Quinn-inspired hair and makeup look, and the pièce de résistance to many of the ensembles was an edgy silver chain (or two!). Models at the Longchamp and Monse Fall/Winter 2020 shows also wore silver chains, so it’s safe to say the trend is about to be everywhere. Dainty gold chain necklaces have been the Instagram standard for some time now, so consider swapping yours for a chunky silver version and see how the edgy twist feels. Missoma has a wide variety of silver necklaces that are just begging to be layered, but the Axiom Chain is still strong enough to make a statement all on its own.

3. White Hoops
Models at the Jacquemus Fall/Winter 2020 runway show wore a variety of chunky white earrings, but none stood out quite like the large-and-in-charge white hoops. When you can’t decide between silver and gold but colorful jewelry won’t fit your look, go for a crisp, clean white in a classic shape and wonder why you aren’t opting for white hoops on the reg. The Argento Vivo Enamel Plated Hoop Earrings are a gorgeous, slightly smaller take to ease you in.

4. Solo Tassel
What makes a Givenchy Spring/Summer 2020 Haute Couture gown even more incredible? One long, fringe tassel earring in a matching hue. This look gave me life on the runway, so I can’t wait to try it this year in real life, too. Since most earrings are sold in sets of two, my best advice is to go halfsies with a friend on a great pair and take one each. You’ll be surprised how differently you might style the same tassel! The Akola Celia Earrings have some unique woven and beaded elements above the tassel for a little extra pizzazz.

5. Piled-On Pearls
Amidst the dreamy dresses at Badgley Mischka’s Fall/Winter 2020 show, one look in particular served Wednesday-Addams-meets-Victorian-grandmother realness. A gothic black garment with stark white collar was topped off with FIFTEEN strands of pearls, and I’ll be damned if I don’t recreate the look with just as many, if not more. The A New Day Short Faux Pearl Multi Row Necklace has me covered for my first eight strands or so.

6. Safety Pins
The Monse Fall/Winter 2020 show was an accessory goldmine, and in keeping with 2020’s silver trend, models wore oversized silver safety pins in both ears. The once only-for-punks look is now officially mainstream, and The Last Line LA sells straightforward styles, like the 14K White Gold Large Safety Pin Earring, as well as colorful, gem-encrusted versions for anyone who wants a bit more of a statement.

7. Mismatched Earrings
A trend spotted all over the fashion week runways, but in particular at Ulla Johnson’s Fall/Winter 2020 show, was that of the mismatched earrings. Be they different shapes, sizes, colors, or patterns, no two were the same. You can buy an intentionally mismatched pair to get the look, such as the Roxanne Assoulin Baby Hip-Hop But Not Earrings, OR you can grab two earrings you already own and pair them together for an unexpectedly fresh combination.

8. Embellished Chokers
Chokers first had their moment in the ’90s, and again a few years back when the trend was passionately revived. According to Anna Sui’s Fall/Winter 2020 show, they’ll be making an appearance on stylish necks near you yet again come autumn of this year. To ease back into the trend, start with more low-key embellishments — the Haute & Rebellious Baroque Stones Velvet Choker is ideal.

9. Cameos
Another throwback trend, but this time, all the way back to 3rd century BC, when cameo jewelry first became popular. One of the models at Badgley Mischka’s Fall/Winter 2020 show sported massive cameo earrings to jazz up a black-and-white look, and while you don’t have to go over-the-top with the trend, these babies do tend to make a statement. A more low-key option to consider are these Vintage-Inspired Escapade Button Earrings, which will run you just $20.

10. Bold Colors
If you tend to stick with silver or gold when shopping jewelry, it’s time to try out some color. Models at the Christopher John Rogers Fall/Winter 2020 show wore bright, monochromatic looks, and they had the statement jewelry to match. Skip the metallics and opt for a colorful bracelet or necklace to finish off a monochrome look — if you’re wearing red, Lele Sadoughi’s Bellflower Cuff will be your new best friend.

11. Charm Necklaces
Skip the charm bracelets and go straight to long, dangly charm necklaces, the trend I couldn’t keep my eyes off of at the Zimmermann Fall/Winter 2020 show. You can absolutely DIY a necklace with the meaningful charms of your choice, or you can treat yourself to something like the Swarovski Mixed Metal Magnetic Necklace, which is currently on sale for a whopping 60% off.

12. Tortoise Touch
Bella Hadid’s lewk at the Brandon Maxwell Fall/Winter 2020 fashion show really made a case for resurrecting your tortoise shell costume jewelry. Paired with all-black, the neutral pattern is the perfect touch of texture. If you don’t have any forgotten-about tortoise pieces in your jewelry box already, get the Rachel Comey Pac Earrings and channel your inner Hadid.

13. Kiss Kiss
It takes a lot to distract me from a leopard cowboy hat, but these red lip earrings at the Chiara Boni Fall/Winter 2020 show managed that and more. I’m obsessed! Lip and kiss-inspired jewelry is totally a thing for 2020, so needless to say, I’ve already ordered this Crystal Lips Pendant Necklace from Adina’s Jewels.
