One of my pet hates in life is paid parking. Why pay when you can park somewhere else for free? So I do a lot of walking to avoid this unnecessary expense at all costs. I have a 2km walk in and out of work each day, for example. It’s a great way to add an extra bit of cardio in after BOLD, where I train. I usually wear sneakers to work because they’re practical and comfy for walking – but not the most stylish, I’m the first to admit it. Enter the CAT boots challenge…
The CAT Boots Challenge
About two weeks ago, I was presented with a pair of CAT ankle boots. With heels, something I usually avoid – just like paid parking. I was slightly dubious that they would be ‘comfy’, but I went ahead and wore them around the office. Surprisingly, they were incredibly comfortable – which turned out to be a good thing as my challenge was to wear them all day every day for a week. I’m never one to back out of a challenge, so bring on the boots!

The most daunting part for me was the walk to and from work. With some sweet tunes blaring, I set forth on the mission back to my car. And even though there is an actual heel on these boots, I didn’t feel any bit less comfortable than in my usual sneakers. I couldn’t believe it. What’s more, I felt pretty fancy. A whole lot more stylish than sneakers anyway.
Pushing The Limits
I can’t say I took them cycling or running but these boots did do a ton of walking. They took me wine tasting at Oak Valley Wine Farm, they took me to the Elgin Railway Market, shopping, working, socialising – and they got compliments everywhere they went. Being simple, classy black ankle boots they matched basically anything – from shorts to skirts to jeans.

The week flew by without me even realising. Before the challenge began, I had been looking forward to getting back into my comfy sneakers. But when seven days were up, I found myself choosing the boots for the next day. In fact, here I sit typing away, with my feet comfortably inside my CAT boots.
The CAT Footwear Ladies’ Jessica boots retail for R1 699 and come in sizes UK 3 to UK 8. You can find these ankle boots and other great styles at CatFootwear.co.za.
